The industrial graduate research school in forest genetics, biotechnology and breeding was launched in 2013 as a collaboration project between the UPSC Centre for Forest Biotechnology and its industrial partners.

The goal is to educate people that can bridge the gap between scientific research and industrial application by training them jointly at the university and in a company. Postgraduate students admitted to this education participate in a five years program comprising a common part that tries to provide a common knowledge framework on molecular genetics of important traits, genomics, SE technology, statisitcs, quantitative genetics and breeding theory. And in addition every student has his/her own research program that is jointly formulated by the academic supervisor and the industrial host.
